Kaboom! Pow! Zoink!
All of the fabulous fight noises you used to see flashed on the screen during episodes of Batman. Also the noises that a newly mobile baby makes. Since last night, Jack has injured himself repeatedly.
There was the Boink! as he smacked his head against the wheels of his exer-car while crawling.
Then there was the Pow! as he (again) stood at his table and fell, smacking his face (this time sans blood).
Then the Kaboom! of him sneezing while we are out for dinner and smacking his forehead against the table. That was especially troubling as he has done it several times in the past and we're starting to fear that the kid has no cause-effect matrix in his brain. We're just going to have to push his high chair further back from the table, I guess.
Then the Zoink! of Jack's ear getting tugged at by Kyle's teeth. Kyle was nibbling on Jack's ear when Jack decided to turn his head really quickly. We've decided that biting will be avoided from now on, by us and (hopefully) Jack.
All of these episodes end in some truly ear-splitting crying, and hugging from us while saying "you're ok" and secretly wondering if he has finally brain-damaged himself.
It's a little hard to sit back and watch him play while wondering if he's going to hurt himself. So, I sit close to help him avoid major injury (ie- catch him when he is standing next to the ottoman and throws himself back in an effort to get the cat, who is perched on the arm of the sofa). I guess that's all we can do. Kyle is certain that we could put him in a rubber room and he would figure out a way to hurt himself. Gotta stock up the first aid kit.

We have neighbors who have four kids under the age of eight. As part of their marital division of labor, the wife handles all ER visits. So until you and Kyle actually have to negotiate who is responsible for taking Jack to the hospital, ain't no biggie! :-)
