Blogging: Christmas Edition
This morning I woke up at 5:00 and couldn't go back to sleep, so ended up downstairs unloading the dishwasher waiting for everyone else. Kyle got up at 6:00 and Jack finally made it downstairs a little bit after 7:00. We opened the video chat with my parents, and by 8:30, all of the wrapping was torn and the boxes tossed aside and we were playing with our wares.
Jack's inclination to make a list for Santa paid off this year, as he got the Disney Monorail set that he's been asking for for the past 2 years. Lucky for Santa, Disney World offers free shipping when you buy things at the Magic Kingdom! In addition to the basic monorail set, Santa added on the Contemporary Resort, which is on the monorail route at Disney. We ate breakfast at Chef Mickey's (which is in the Contemporary) once with Granny and PawPaw, so when Jack saw the Contemporary box, he shouted, "Chef Mickey's!" a few times as he clawed the rest of the paper off. His other Disney loot includes a Mickey stencil set and a Cars/Incredibles school supply set that he spent about 10 minutes going through exclaiming, "eraser!" and "pencil sharpener!" and "markers!" Oh, and four tins of Disney mints because he loves them so much and they are really the best mints I've ever had.
Jack is alternating between playing with those and the awesome presents sent by the grandparents including Lincoln Logs and Matchbox Cars. Later we'll get out the silicone baking cups with little feet on them and make recipes with the cupcake cookbook that Granny and PawPaw sent. We'll also bust a move to the Moving Music game that Grandma Kathe and Grandpa Leland sent and read the book Grandma Sue sent called My Father's Dragon.
Currently, Kyle and Jack are setting up their Nerf N-Strike Wii game and shooting each other with Nerf darts while I yell, "I thought we said we weren't going to shoot other people!" and blog about it.
Earlier when we were setting up the Monorail, we were trying to put the little Disney characters inside the car and realized that the hinge at the waist was really useful because you could pull them apart to position their tiny little butts in the seats and then add their upper half once they were securely fastened. Jack tried to do it with Minnie remaining whole and she came apart during his attempt. He handed her two little pieces to me and said in a serious voice, "Mom, can you put her next to Mickey? She's very, very hurt." Kyle and I had a good chuckle about that while I sat Minnie down next to Mickey in the monorail car.
