Trip to the Farmer's Market
This afternoon we took Jack to the Marker-Miller Orchards to join in on the Peach Festival and all of its bounty. (Actually, we were horrified to find there was a festival going on and that it was more crowded than expected.) Nonetheless, we had a great time.
We were able to get some fresh peaches (which I thought Jack hated, but it turns out he LOVES a fresh peach!), home-grown tomatoes, fresh spinach pasta, and some fresh baked apple-caramel cookies. Kyle also bought some peach cobbler and ice cream and we all enjoyed that immensely.
The best part of the trip wasn't the fresh fruits & veggies, nor the ultra-cool kids' play area. The best part was the barrel train ride. Nice, big, metal barrels were cut open, fitted with seats and seatbelts, and are hooked to a medium-sized tractor and pulled around the orchards. Jack was the youngest kid on the particular journey he embarked upon, but he held on to the handrails like a champ and grinned the entire time (we peeked at him from afar). This is the only shot I was able to obtain of our fabulous trip:

Maybe someday we'll convince Henry's parents to come visit DC and swing out this way. While we don't have The Fuji, we do have The Gala, and it's a lovely second.
